JLPT levels in real reading

Why vocabulary counts mislead
- Knowing 2,000 words on flashcards does not guarantee you can comfortably read N4 or N3 passages.
- Real reading requires sentence-level parsing: tracking omitted subjects, processing embedded relative clauses, and recognizing grammatical particles under real-time reading speed.
- Testing your comprehension against short leveled passages gives a far more practical baseline than counting mastered Anki cards.
